For some individuals, an emotional support animal can play a meaningful role in improving mental health, stability, and overall quality of life. Our practice provides clinical assessments and, when appropriate, letters of support for adults (age 18 and older) seeking documentation to obtain or maintain an emotional support animal.

This process involves a minimum of four therapy sessions to allow us to understand your history, current challenges, and how an ESA may contribute to your emotional well-being. These sessions also ensure we meet professional and ethical standards for assessment and documentation. If a letter is clinically appropriate, it will include all information required by California law.

It is important to note that an ESA letter is not automatically guaranteed. The decision to provide one is based on clinical judgment after a careful evaluation of your needs. If an ESA is not the most appropriate recommendation, we will discuss alternative ways to support your mental health and well-being.

While therapy sessions may be eligible for insurance reimbursement, the fee associated with the letter-writing service is not covered by insurance and is billed separately as a non-reimbursable service.

Our approach is compassionate, thorough, and guided by the belief that supportive documentation should genuinely enhance your care, empowerment, and emotional wellness.
